A man who raped and sexually assaulted his stepdaughter from when she was 7-years-old has been found guilty of 2 counts of rape and 6 counts of sexual assault.
While delivering the judgement, High Court Judge, Justice Daniel Goundar says the man first assaulted the girl in 2015 when she was in Year 2.
He says the girl reported the matter to her grandmother in 2020 after her mother and the man had separated in 2019.
Justice Goundar says the girl had said she was too scared to report the matter and only did so when she was removed from her stepfather’s home and felt safe with her grandmother in 2020.
The matter has been adjourned to Monday for sentencing hearing.
