Man arrested for travelling from Gau to Nukulau Island

A 50-year-old man was arrested for breaching the containment area after found travelling by boat from Lovu village in Gau to Nukulau Island.

Acting Police Commissioner, Rusiate Tudravu says a total of 34 arrests were made in the last 24 hours where 25 people were arrested for breaching health restrictions and 9 were arrested for breaching curfew orders.

He says majority of the arrests made are linked to alcohol.

The Southern Division recorded 18 cases whereby seven people were found drunk at Deuba village in Serua, a 37-year-old man was arrested for breaching curfew orders at Nadonumai while a 35-year-old man was found walking in the Raiwaqa area during curfew hours.

Two men were found drunk and loitering along Sakoca in Tacirua while four others including a juvenile were found intoxicated in Narere. A man was arrested for buying cigarettes during curfew hours in Raiwaqa.

Of the 15 cases recorded in the Western Division, five farmers of Navosa were arrested after found drunk, three others were also found drinking alcohol while a man in his 20’s was found loitering along the Tavakubu area in Lautoka.

Three cases related to alcohol were also recorded in Lautoka while a 50-year-old man of Nakorokula was arrested for loitering during curfew hours.

A lone case recorded in the Northern Division where a 56-year-old man was found loitering around the Labasa market area during curfew hours.
