A man has been arrested today at the Lakeba Jetty after he was allegedly found in possession of illicit drugs, specifically a bag containing dried leaves believed to be marijuana.
Police confirm the arrest was made by officers deployed as part of special operations currently underway on the island.
The team included members from the Fiji Detector Dog Unit, the Police Mobile Force and the Central Division.
Police say the drugs were discovered during a routine inspection of a vessel that arrived this morning, with the detection made by a K9 officer.
The suspect remains in custody while the seized substances will be sent for analysis.
Operations on the island continue.
