The Fiji Police Force says it has reviewed its modus operandi on the intermittent road closures carried out during the ongoing State visit.
Police say members of the travelling public are advised that they may be inconvenienced for a minimum of 3 to 5 minutes just to allow Police officers to facilitate their escorting duties.
Drivers travelling along the main highways are being asked to be alert and mindful of when the escorting duties are being conducted, as they will be expected to move aside to allow the motorcade through.
Police say the main highways will not be closed, but drivers are being asked to cooperate with Police when escorting duties are being conducted.
Drivers from side roads will be asked to wait for a few minutes to allow the motorcade to pass along the main highways, and Police officers will allow the normal flow of traffic.
Police say the posture adopted at the beginning of the week was to avoid a repeat of what transpired in previous similar escorting duties where three Police accidents were recorded, due to the high volume of vehicle movements on our roads.
Members of the public are advised to call the National Police Command and Control Centre on 9905 296 should they have any issues about traffic movements.
