Madigibuli's third bail application denied

Madigibuli's third bail application denied
Apisai Madigibuli

Apisai Madigibuli, who is accused of killing his 25-year-old wife last year, has had his third bail application denied by Suva High Court Judge Justice Dane Tuiqereqere this morning.

Madigibuli applied for bail so that he could find employment and pay for a private lawyer.

On the 29th of July, he informed the court of his intention to represent himself instead of being represented by the Legal Aid Commission.

The scheduled trial date was vacated and set for April 6th to 17th, 2026.

Justice Tuiqereqere says the court is concerned about when the trial will be called and the length of time Madigibuli will remain in remand.

He noted that Madigibuli has already spent two years in remand.

Justice Tuiqereqere also says that Madigibuli remains a public risk if granted bail and poses a risk of absconding.

Madigibuli has 30 days to appeal the decision.

The matter has been adjourned to the 23rd of September for mention.

He is charged with one count of murder.

It is alleged that he killed his wife at an apartment complex along Robertson Road in Suva in April last year.
