India’s 2011 World Cup winning captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni has officially retired from international Cricket.

Dhoni confirmed the news through a video on his Instagram and has told fans to consider him retired from today.

The 39-year-old retires as India’s most successful captain in limited-over internationals, having won the 2007 T20 World Cup, 50-over World Cup in 2011 and the 2013 ICC  Champions Trophy.

Dhoni last played international cricket during the semifinal of the 2019 ICC  Cricket World Cup where India lost to New Zealand.

He made his debut for India in 2004 against Bangladesh.

It is still unknown if Dhoni will continue to play domestic cricket.
