SODELPA MP Lynda Tabuya has been ordered to deactivate her Facebook account for the duration of her case, by Chief Magistrate Usaia Ratuvili.
This was one of the conditions issued by Magistrate Ratuvili this afternoon before granting bail to the parliamentarian.
Her Facebook account will have to be deactivated from Friday 3rd April 2020.
Tabuya also presented two sureties in court.
They were SODELPA MP Ro Teimumu Kepa and Tabuya's elder sister - Ane.
Tabuya has pleaded not guilty to one count of Malicious Act in the Suva Magistrates Court.
She was charged by Police for her post on social media in relation to COVID-19. It is alleged that Tabuya posted on Facebook that quote “Let’s get one thing straight Fiji, the government brought Coronavirus to Fiji. #StopBlamingThePeople #Criminal Negligence.” end quote
The case will be called again on 6th April.
Meanwhile, earlier today Police Prosecutor, Joseph Dixon objected to bail.
Investigating Officer Bernadette Tabalala gave evidence as to why bail should be denied.
She says that this is a matter of national interest.
