Apolosi Lewaqai is the new Divisional Commissioner Western.
Lewaqai takes over the role following the retirement of Mesake Ledua.
Minister for Rural and Maritime Development and Disaster Management, Inia Seruiratu says they are glad to fill this position based on the open-merit recruitment and selection process.
Seruiratu adds that Lewaqai brings with him 24 years of experience and is confident that he will contribute to the future growth of the Ministry and the socio-economic development of rural communities in the Western Division.
He previously held the position of Director Asia, Russia and the Middle East Bureau with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs prior to this appointment.
Lewaqai had also served as the First Secretary based in the Fiji Embassy in Beijing, China.
