Lawyer and Accountant allegedly breach curfew

Police are concerned that many people being arrested for breaching the curfew were simply too intoxicated to realise what they were doing and where they were during the time of the arrest.

Acting Police Commissioner Rusiate Tudravu is urging everyone to drink responsibly and remain where they are at 11pm and only leave the next morning from 4am.

Eight more people were arrested in the last 24 hours for breaching the curfew.

Of that number four cases were recorded in the Southern Division while the remaining four were from the Central Division.

The Southern Division includes Samabula, Tamavua, Tacirua, Nabua and Nasinu, and other areas outside of the Suva Central area.

In the Central Division, two of those arrested were a 26-year-old lawyer and a 26-year-old Accountant.

Both were found drunk and traveling in a taxi without any valid reason, while the other two cases involved a woman and a man in their 20s who were found loitering along Ellery Street in Suva.

The four arrests made in the Southern Division involved a 19- year old woman who was found walking around in Kinoya while three men in their 20s were found loitering in Makoi.
