Natabua High School sprinter Francis Tuva has set her sights on winning as many gold as she can in the Coca Cola Lautoka Zone and also at the upcoming Coca Cola Games next month.

Tuva made a strong statement in today’s Senior Girls’ 400 metres heats as she qualified for the final in style.

While speaking to fijivillage Sports, the Malake, Ra student says there was tough competition from other schools in the zone today especially Jasper Williams High School, but she has set her focus on achieving her goal.

Tuva says it will be tougher in the 400 metres final, but she is adamant that she can create something special.

The 19-year-old won gold in the Coca Cola Games’ senior girls’ 200 metres event last year, but settled for silver in the 400 metres, and says she wants to repeat that performance this year, but this time, to win gold in all her events.

Meanwhile, Yasawa High School and Natabua are currently leading the Lautoka Zone’s girls’ and boys’ medal tallies respectively.

Yasawa leads the girls’ division with 3 gold and 1 silver, followed by Natabua with 2 gold, while Jasper is third with 1 gold, 4 silver and 2 bronze.

In the boys’ division, Natabua is leading with 6 gold, 1 silver and 1 bronze, Central College Lautoka is second with 2 silver, and Drasa Secondary School is third with 1 silver and 1 bronze.

Day 1 of the Lautoka Zone is currently underway at Churchill Park in Lautoka.
