Residents in Lami, Tamavua and Samabula who are getting discoloured water in their taps are being advised to boil drinking water as Water Authority of Fiji have assured that all treated water meets safety standards but no health risk assessment is currently underway.
Residents say they have been getting dirty water from time to time since last December.
While responding to questions by fijivillage News, WAF says the discolouration may be due to biofilm and slime growth disturbances in the water mains, caused by pressure fluctuations during supply disruptions.
WAF says teams are actively flushing the system and additional water quality tests are being carried out in affected areas.
