A new winner will be crowned this year after Lebron James and the LA Lakers were stunned 113-100 by the Phoenix Suns in Game 6 of a Western Conference first-round series this afternoon.
In their first visit to the playoffs since 2010, the Suns move on to face the Denver Nuggets with a 4-2 series victory.
The Lakers have become just the seventh NBA reigning champions to be eliminated in the first round.
James who was kept to his lowest points on average in the opening five playoff games scored 29 points for the Lakers.
The loss marked the first time in his career that James was eliminated in the opening round of the playoffs.
