Labasa florist Neelam Sharma

Labasa florist Neelam Sharma says she wants to empower women to get off their phones and get into gardening, as it is good for the mind and body and can also help them earn some money.

While speaking to fijivillage News during the Arbor Week celebration in Labasa, Sharma says most of the time, women are on their phones, but instead, they can take some time out to plant flowers.

The woman from Vunivau, Labasa, says planting flowers has a positive impact on nature and ensures women do not waste their time.

Sharma, who is known for growing grafted plants, says she has grafted lime and kumquat, and has also planted dragon fruit, mango, jackfruit, and other plants.

She says she sells her plants from $5 and up, depending on the size of the plant.

Sharma says she has not received any government assistance.
