SODELPA MP Aseri Radrodro is calling on the Land Transport Authority Board to appoint a local to the CEO position of LTA while the LTA Chairman Vijay Maharaj says they have begun the process to find a new CEO.
This comes after the LTA Board announced that Samuel Simpson will be leaving 6 months earlier than the date that his contract officially ends.
Radrodro says the people of Fiji deserve to know the real reason for the departure of Simpson.
He claims Simpson was being paid $500,000 which made him one of the most highly paid persons in Fiji and his sudden departure requires an audit of how much was he able to achieve against his terms of reference. Radrodro had also raised the issue in parliament regarding Simpson’s salary.
He says LTA is a critical institution of Government that requires a full-time person to handle the many challenges confronting the organization during this COVID-19 pandemic.
Vijay Maharaj says Simpson’s last day in the office is on 23rd July 2021 and his three years would have come to an end in December 2021.
Maharaj says during the past two and half years with LTA, Simpson has sought to bring about a culture of honesty, integrity, and a direct problem-solving approach when dealing with customers, transport stakeholders and staff alike.
He says he was committed to keeping Fijians safe on our roads and has introduced many positive changes within the organisation.
