The issue surrounding discrimination against LGBTQ people and same-sex marriage has been brought up by the overseas-based Methodist Church during the Annual Conference that is underway in Suva.
Communication General Secretary, Reverend Wilfred Regunamada says the issue was raised by the representatives from the Uniting Church in Australia, the United Methodist Church in the United States, the United Kingdom Methodist Church, and the California Nevada Church.
He says discussions on LGBTQ has been an ongoing issue, especially after it has been accepted in certain countries, and in the traditional mindset of being a Fijian, a few Fijians from the diaspora have moved out and formed their own ministries.
Reverend Regunamada says the Methodist Church will make its own decision based on its beliefs for unity, love, equality and inclusiveness.
He adds the church will need to be a beacon to everyone who comes into the church.
