Minister for Women, Children and Social Protection Sashi Kiran has strongly condemned any form of abuse or harmful behavior toward children.
Kiran says she is deeply concerned about the safety and well-being of a child who is seen on a viral video as a victim of violence and has condemned the action of the young boys seen to be bullying a child.
She says such actions are completely unacceptable, and they are awaiting details on the incident.
This statement comes in response to a recent video widely circulated on social media showing a young boy being bullied.
The Ministry is urging the public to immediately report any incidents of violence against children that they witness or suspect.
They say protecting our children is a shared responsibility, and early intervention can prevent further harm.
They say if people witness or suspect any form of violence against children, to please contact the Child Helpline at 1325 for immediate support and assistance.
As the school holiday season is underway, the Minister is also calling on all parents and guardians to remain vigilant and to know where their children are at all times and be aware of who their friends are.
Kiran says a safe and supportive environment is critical for every child's healthy development, and it begins with attentive and informed parenting.
