Judicial Department revenue collector fronts court for allegedly obtaining more than $100,000

A Judicial Department revenue collector who has been charged for allegedly obtaining more than $100,000 through corrupt practices has been granted bail by the Lautoka Magistrates Court.

Torika Maibau has been charged with four counts of forgery, two counts of obtaining financial advantage and three counts of general dishonesty and causing a loss.

The alleged incidents occurred between 1st January 2020 to 30th August 2021.

Maibau has been released on a bail of $1,000 and ordered not to re-offend whiile on bail.

She has also been ordered not to leave Viti Levu without the courts permission

A stop departure order has been issued against Maibau.

The case will be called again on 18th March.
