Judge Bull questions tattoo evidence as murder case nears judgement

Judge Bull questions tattoo evidence as murder case nears judgement
Timoci Matanimeke

20-year-old Timoci Matanimeke, who is charged with one count of murder, aggravated robbery, and trespass, will appear in court next Friday for the final judgment.

Matanimeke allegedly broke into a house in Samabula on Christmas Eve in 2023, which led to the murder of Nitya Nand.

Suva High Court judge Justice Siainiu Fa’alogo Bull told the counsels that during the first call on the matter, the accused did not have a tattoo, despite one being visible in the CCTV footage.

Judge Bull has given both the state and the defence counsels seven days to respond to the question regarding the identification of the tattoo.

Both counsels will file their submissions on Tuesday.

The matter will be called again on Friday.
