Australian company, John Staff International Development has been appointed as the successful tenderer to deliver the CWM Hospital Master Plan.
Australian Minister for Foreign Affairs, Penny Wong confirmed this while delivering her remarks at the Peace Garden in CWM Hospital this afternoon.
Wong says the Australian Government will be investing FJ$14.7 million for the CWM infrastructure master plan which will develop and assess the future health needs for Fiji, for the workforce and infrastructure required for a high-quality national referral hospital.
She says this is a significant milestone for healthcare in Fiji, as every citizen is entitled to healthcare services regardless of where they come from.
The Australian Foreign Affairs Minister says they want to keep working with Fiji to develop better services, more inclusive opportunities, peace and prosperity for the families and people of the country.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka says they are grateful for the assistance provided by the Australian Government which will improve the services for the hospital that is more than 100 years old.
Rabuka says this will also ensure better services for future generations.
