The Governments of Japan and Fiji have today exchanged diplomatic notes to formalize the COVID-19 Crises Response Emergency Support Loan worth approximately $200 million.
The loan will be provided with concessional conditions with a 0.01 percent interest rate and 15 years of repayment period with four years of grace period.
This mark's Japan's largest single economic development contribution to Fiji through the history of the bilateral relationship between Fiji and Japan.
The emergency loan support will enable the Fijian government to implement its planned activities for the 2021/2022 financial year and directing resources for COVID-19 response such as strengthening health and medical services.
