The Deputy Director for Legal Aid Commission Jeremaia Waqainabete says it is embarrassing to see that majority of the people who are breaking COVID-19 protocols like curfew and gatherings are the iTaukei.
Waqainabete highlighted this during the Tailevu Provincial Youth Council Facebook live session, when questioned on majority of the cases that Legal Aid is dealing with at the moment.
He says these people are still gathering to drink grog and this shows that they do not realize the seriousness of what our country is facing at the moment.
Waqainabete says just by looking at the number of iTaukei people who visit their office after breaking these protocols, he personally feels embarrassed and it hurts him.
He says this is because they still do not appreciate the fact that COVID-19 can kill.
Waqainabete says the other case that they are dealing with now at a smaller scale are thefts and robberies.
