Work has been completed on the Intensive Care Unit at the Sai Sanjeevani Children's Heart Hospital in Nasese.
Highly specialized equipment on the state of the art ICU has been installed by US Biomedical Engineer Roy Morris and his son, Sam.
The hospital’s Director, Doctor Krupali Tappoo says in the next few months, work is expected to be completed on the other wards.
The entire project is expected to cost $25 million.
When completed, the hospital will be run and operated by the Sai Prema Foundation in association with the Fijian government through the Health Ministry.
It will focus on helping children with congenital heart disease.
Free surgeries will be done at the hospital.
Approximately 200 children are born in Fiji every year with congenital heart disease.
