Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka confirms that he cannot order a Commission of Inquiry in FICAC, however, it can only be commissioned by the President on the advice of the Prime Minister.
While responding to questions from the media, Rabuka says he is still looking at the Commission of Inquiries Act, which will be the formula for his recommendation to the President.
He says after that, the Terms of Reference will be drawn up in conjunction with the approval from the President.
When asked if there is any particular timeline that he is looking to set up the terms of reference, Rabuka says the shorter, the better.
He says a lot of people in Fiji are still questioning the integrity of some institutions, and the quicker they bring out the facts as discovered by the Commission, the better it will be for everyone.
When questioned on who will be the members of the Commission, Rabuka says that it has not been determined.
