Fiji Cabbies Operators Association is looking into and working on a draft technological solution to curb illegal taxi operations as the human factor in the past has failed.
This was stated by the General Secretary of the Association and software engineer, Sanjesh Lal.
Lal says he believes a solution can be reached to make it possible and this solution, when implemented will be a mammoth change in the industry.
The Association President Jai Subhash says one of their biggest achievement was the implementation of the Open Taxi Rank System which was once a thought, grew into a proposal and was presented to the former Minister for Local Government.
Subhash says Lal had the vision of the OTRS and was actively involved in the due process and helped create a level playing field for all Taxi operators in Fiji.
He also says the Association is hopeful to get a meeting with the Minister for Transport soon and advise on how the system can be enhanced to curb down on illegal operations and pirate taxi services in operation.
Meanwhile, the Association will be celebrating its first anniversary soon.
