Huge focus on training incentives as chefs, nurses, teachers, accountants and those wanted for fruit picking leave Fiji

Huge focus on training incentives as chefs, nurses, teachers, accountants and those wanted for fruit picking leave Fiji
Minister for Economy Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum

The government is focusing on training people as we have seen a lot of people leave Fiji in recent times because Australia is getting our chefs, people are going to work at abbatoirs, about 60 accountants have left, and more nurses and teachers are leaving.

Minister for Economy, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum has made these comments as he says the 2022/2023 National Budget provides incentives for people to get training opportunities.

He says we have a good supply of accountants and graduates but the experienced ones are also leaving.

Sayed-Khaiyum says nurses are leaving and it is difficult to compete with the salaries offered in the Middle East and Australia.
