Housing Authority aims to deliver 2,873 housing units and 2,621 serviced lots by 2029 - Nalumisa
Minister for Housing, Maciu Nalumisa

By 2029, the Housing Authority is expected to strengthen home ownership and deliver 2,873 housing units and 2,621 serviced lots.

These figures were shared today by the Minister for Housing, Maciu Nalumisa, while announcing seven major land and housing infrastructure projects.

He says the largest delivery is projected between 2027 and 2029.

Nalumisa says this is the most extensive housing program the institution has ever undertaken.

He adds that over the next three to five years, the government plans to support 1,250 first-time homeowners, upgrade six informal settlements, relocate three high-risk communities, and acquire 300 acres of land for future housing development.

According to Nalumisa, the government has set clear and ambitious targets for 2025–2029 under the National Development Plan, focusing on strengthening homeownership, upgrading informal settlements, and expanding access to affordable and social housing.

He says these targets demonstrate the government’s commitment to improving the quality, safety, and accessibility of housing for all Fijians.

Nalumisa further noted access to affordable housing is not only a constitutional obligation but also a key pillar of the national development plan.

He emphasized that the ministry’s programs are designed with a clear purpose, to make homeownership a reality for low and middle income earners in Fiji.
