Minister for Economy Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum says hotel workers can work weekends and still receive their $220 assistance.
Sayed-Khaiyum says they have seen through their Love our Locals Program that a number of hotels are booked out in the weekends, however the hotel workers who are now receiving the $220 do not want to come back and work in the weekends because they think that they will lose out on the $220.
He says in some cases, some hotels found it hard to even get 65 people to come to work but now they can still receive their $220.
Sayed-Khaiyum says they are very mindful in doing this as they want the right people to go and work in hotels.
