The Hot Bread Kitchen has invested $480,000 in the refurbishment of their Damodar City shop which offers customers the opportunity to sit and enjoy their well known baked goods.

Director Dr. Mere Samisoni says this period where there are global challenges like COVID-19 that is forcing most businesses to cut back on staff and on their general operations, they have fought tooth and nails to retain all staff.

The bakery chain has 23 shops that employs 800 people.

She says they have had to instead opt for reduced hours for staff so that they can all remain working, earning livelihood for families and contribute to the sustaining of the national economy.

Dr. Samisoni says they have gone through Fiji’s turbulent times and yet they have come back each time to say that they continue to believe in Fiji and the people and will continue to invest.

She has also highlighted that they have always worked not to waste food and resources and any leftover they have is given to the Salvation Army and Methodist Food Kitchens.

The Hot Bread Kitchen has plans to expand to Vanua Levu where they will be opening a store at Damodar City North.

They are also planning to construct a centralised facility in Valelevu which will cater for the Central and Eastern Divisions to address their EFL capacity issues.
