The 5th Fiji National Hindu Conference commenced today at the Harbour Point Conventional Hall in Lami, under the theme “United Communities, Stronger Fiji.”
The conference focuses on identifying challenges to Hindu unity, with speakers from temples and government agencies taking part.
During the opening session, Vishva Hindu Parishad Fiji President, Jay Dayal emphasised the importance of Dharma, which teaches principles of righteousness regardless of race, religion, caste, or creed.
Indian High Commissioner to Fiji, Suneet Mehta highlighted the role of Fiji’s Indian institutions, such as schools, temples, community halls, and centres, in protecting and preserving heritage.
He adds that many of these organisations, including the Chaisalatam Dharam, the IRISM, and the Prakriti Nithyanandam, are interconnected.
The second session of the conference will feature government agencies and panel discussions.
