High Court to hear Kamikamica’s permanent stay application on Wednesday
Member of Parliament, Manoa Kamikamica

The High Court will hear the permanent stay application matter for Member of Parliament, Manoa Kamikamica on Wednesday.

Kamikamica's lawyer Wylie Clarke confirmed to Magistrate Charles Ratakele that they have filed an application in the High Court seeking a permanent stay of proceedings, along with an interim stay pending the outcome of that application.

Clarke says they have already given their reasons.

He says it is now up to the High Court to determine the matter.

The documents filed in the High Court were also handed to Magistrate Ratakele.

Clarke adds they expect the matter to progress in the High Court and they will wait further directions next week.

He says due to the legal vacation, there may be limited time for the matter to return to the Magistrates Court before year’s end.

The case has been adjourned to the 29th of January, 2026.

Kamikamica is charged with one count of perjury and one count of giving false information to a public servant. It is alleged that between 1st December 2024 and 31st March 2025 in Suva, Kamikamica knowingly made a false statement under oath, claiming that he had nothing to do with the appointment of the FICAC Commissioner.

It is alleged that Kamikamica provided the same false information to the Commissioner of Inquiry (COI).
