A heavy rain warning from severe thunderstorms is now in force for Southern and interior of Viti Levu including the greater Suva, Nausori, Navua, South of greater Nadi area, interior of Nadroga/Navosa, Sigatoka to Korolevu, interior and coastal Serua-Namosi and Southern Vanua Levu including Bua, Cakaudrove and Macuata Province.
The Nadi Weather Office says severe thunderstorms are expected to produce heavy rain and may lead to flash flooding of low lying areas in the next few hours over the Southern and interior parts of Viti Levu including greater Navua, Suva and Nausori, South of Greater Nadi area, interior of Ba, Nadroga and Navosa, Sigatoka to Korolevu, interior and coastal Ra, Serua, Namosi and Naitasiri, and Southern Vanua Levu including Bua and Southern Macuata Province.
A trough of low pressure lies slow moving over the eastern parts of the country and associated cloud and rain is expected to affect the eastern parts of the country for the next few days
They say due to the unpredicatable nature of thunderstorms, some locations within the warning area may experience little to no impact, while others could face severe conditions.
Please remain vigilant and take necessary precautions as conditions can change rapidly.
Thunderstorm activity and associated heavy rain is expected to persist until later in the evening or overnight.
