Green growth principles involve the development of projects and activities with economic benefits for the communities while at the same time protecting our fragile environment.

This was stated by the Secretary General of the Pacific Islands Development Forum Solo Mara at the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding with the Pacific Recycling Foundation.

Pacific Recycling Foundation Founder Amitesh Deo says their core function is to provide a structured support to individuals engaged in waste picking so that they become empowered agents that strengthens the recycling collections team to ensure that recyclables do not end up in dumpsites, landfills, or pollute our environment.

The Memorandum of Understanding is aimed at co-operation, exchange information, consult regularly or as appropriate on matters of common interest, undertake joint implementation of programs and projects where this is practicable and convene joint meetings of experts to deal with recycling and waste management.
