A grandmother and resident of Nawaki in Nadi, Kala Wati, has shown that “learning never ends” after becoming one of the 29 participants in the Practical Bookkeeping and Understanding Financial Statements training conducted by Business Assistance Fiji in Nadi.
Wati is a dedicated grandmother who sews eco-bags, pillowcases, cushion covers, short dresses, and other items to support herself and her family.
She says she wanted to learn about bookkeeping, maintain business records, and have a balanced balance sheet over a period of six months or one year.
Wati says that following this training, she can now properly record her cash flow, know exactly where and how much she spends, and understand how much can be saved.
The training was led by BAF Acting General Manager Nitika Singh and focused on essential skills such as managing daily transactions, understanding profit and loss statements, interpreting balance sheets, and tracking finances.
Singh says BAF is very proud of the women entrepreneurs who took the time to upskill themselves and understand the importance of bookkeeping and financial literacy.
She shared the work and impact that Business Link Pacific has in Fiji, and added that with more empowered women like Kala Wati gaining financial knowledge, BAF remains committed to bridging the gap and supporting women at all levels to build sustainable and successful businesses across Fiji.
The training was attended by women from Tavua, Lautoka, and Nadi, and featured a vibrant mix of young aspiring entrepreneurs and experienced businesswomen.
