The Fijian government is focused on strengthening our borders through the Fiji Revenue and Customs Service to deal with the drugs leaking into our country.
This has been highlighted by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance, Professor Biman Prasad, during fijivillage Straight Talk with Vijay Narayan, where he was asked about the issues dealing with some corrupt Police officers who are allegedly working with some drug networks and even those tampering with evidence.
Professor Biman states that more resources will also be provided to the Police in the next budget, specifically in areas such as addressing the whole issue of drugs and other problems within the institution.
Professor Prasad says the government fully supports the Home Affairs Minister and the Police Force by seeking help from the development partners since the problem is overwhelming where the institutions who are at the forefront to address these issues and make sure to stop such networks from expanding.
He says that the Minister for Home Affairs has been on record about corruption and talked about it within the force and also planned out his intention to address some of the fundamental issues, and is also aware of that issue.
