The government has done its part in increasing the budget allocation for the Fiji Police Force, and now the onus is on us to deliver the services on the ground that is expected of us.

Those were the words of the Commissioner of Police Rusiate Tudravu following the announcement of a $13.5 million increase in the budget allocation for the Fiji Police Force.

This will see the increase in the size of the Police Force by an additional 1,000 personnel as announced by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Professor Biman Prasad during the 2025/2026 National Budget Announcement.

Tudravu says this is what they wanted, and it is now time to deliver.

When asked how will this budget impact their service, Tudravu says they are being allocated the funds for their recruitment which will boost their manpower on the ground.

Meanwhile, Minster for Policing Ioane Naivalurua says this is a great budget, especially for his Ministry as the Fiji Police Force and the Ministry of Policing want to do their work better.

Naivalurua says it will help them improve their service delivery.

He further says that in terms of the Counter Narcotics Bureau, there will be more details released later.

The Fiji Police Force was allocated $240.3 million.
