Minister for Local Government, Premila Kumar has reassured the people of Sakoca in Tacirua that the government has a target to commence work on the Informal Settlement Upgrading Project in the area in the next budget.
Kumar says the government has given money for preparatory stage and once that is done, a tender will be called to identify the cost of the development that will be carried out.
She says the government is progressing well with the project and it is not something that can be done overnight.
She also advised the residents not to extend their houses as when lots will be divided, they will have to remove the extension.
The Ministry of Local Government acquired the development lease for the Sakoca Development project in 2017 and it will be valid for 10 years till 2027.
