Govt committed to addressing the needs of minority communities – Multi-Ethnic Minister

The Government is committed to addressing the development needs of minority ethnic communities in Fiji.

Minister for Multi-Ethnic Affairs and Sugar Industry, Charan Jeath Singh highlighted this during his visit to Dala and Waimaqera settlements in Taveuni.

Singh says the Ministry's pivotal role is to promote equity and inclusion across various ethnic communities, including Indo-Fijians, Melanesians, Chinese, Rabian and other ethnic minorities.

He says over the years, the minority or the ethnic communities may not have received much government services and might have been neglected in some cases.

The Minister says they are hearing from them that they have nowhere to go to seek government assistance or services, and some have told them that no one is listening to them.

He says for that reason, the government established the Ministry of Multi-Ethnic Affairs to look after the affairs and development needs, represent all other ethnic communities, and ensure we all progress together as a nation.

Singh adds this shows the level of commitment the government has to ensure that no communities are left behind and ensure we all progress together as a nation.
