Thousands of people in Vanua Levu can expect improved roads as the government today signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the China International Aid Agency for the maintenance and upgrade of 80km of roads and to improve the agriculture corporation.

While signing the MOU, Acting Prime Minister and Minister for Trade, Cooperatives and SMEs Manoa Kamikamica says the MOU confirms their mutual agreement for continuous assistance.

Kamikamica says earlier this year Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka signed a note of exchange for an 80km road upgrade in Vanua Levu that will bring about $300 million to our country.

He says the tar sealing of the three roads have been prioritised which will increase connectivity in Vanua Levu, improve access to remote villages, markets, education, health care, public services and active construction and management of sealed and unsealed roads.

He further says this will create pathways for further deepening of coorporation and ties in the areas of agriculture and development.

China International Aid Agency Chairman Zhaohui Luo says they will continue to assist Fiji in terms for development and growth.
