Good progress is now being made by the Nasinu Town Council to clean up the piles of rubbish which has been building up in the Nasinu area in recent weeks.
Some of the most affected areas like Narere, Muanikoso, and Nepani as well as part of Nadawa Road have been cleaned up but the Nasinu Town Council is concerned that people have started dumping rubbish again in areas already cleaned up.

There is a spot fine of $40 for littering and you can call 9927 457 if you witness anyone dumping rubbish in Nasinu.
The clean up is part of a government campaign to combat the potential outbreak of Leptospirosis, Typhoid, Dengue, and Diarrhoea.
Close to 200 tonnes of waste has been collected so far.
35 RFMF officers are currently helping with the clean-up in Nasinu.
The further accumulation of piles of rubbish in parts of Nasinu had become a health concern for residents in the area and some had taken action themselves and burned the rubbish in skip bins on the roadside because of the awful stench emanating from it.
Over the weekend, Health Minister Doctor Ifereimi Waqainabete joined RFMF officers and Health inspectors as they continued spraying and fogging in the Nasinu area.
