Ghee now under price control but FCCC yet to confirm the price

Ghee is now under price control which means retailers will not be able to sell it over a certain price which will be determined by the Fijian Competition and Consumer Commission.

This has been confirmed by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Trade Manoa Kamikamica in Parliament while responding to a question by Opposition MP Premila Kumar who says during Diwali, the price of ghee went up from $18 to $32.

She also says during the cyclone time, the price of candles and batteries go up where unscrupulous businesses are trying to make money.

While responding, Kamikamica says ghee is under price control because there was some very irregular pricing that was seen at the time.

FCCC is yet to confirm the controlled price of ghee.

He says in terms of the other candles and batteries, they will have a look at that and see what can be done.
