The Great Council of Chiefs meeting which starts tomorrow will focus on the commitment to empowering iTaukei communities, addressing pressing social and economic issues, and navigating relevant legal frameworks that impact our people.
GCC Chairman Ratu Viliame Seruvakula says they will prioritize updates from each province on recent efforts to economically empower resource owners and address social challenges at the community level.
Ratu Viliame says these provincial updates are expected to provide valuable insights into the realities faced by our people and lay the groundwork for actionable, community-centered solutions.
He says a key focus will be a review of existing iTaukei legislation and administrative processes to clarify any legal implications that affect the community.
The Chairman says the GCC remains committed to finding practical solutions for community empowerment and will use this platform to explore how the Council can influence legislative guidelines or future Bills in favour of iTaukei interests.
He adds the GCC is looking forward to a productive and forward-looking meeting with the provincial leaders and remains hopeful that the insights and outcomes will inspire impactful changes in the lives of our people.
The GCC meeting starts tomorrow and ends on Thursday at the Grand Pacific Hotel in Suva.
