If nothing is done to counter the illegal trade of these white crystals known as methamphetamine, it will be disastrous for our people.
This was highlighted by Great Council of Chiefs Chairman Ratu Viliame Seruvakula when questioned by fijivillage News on what is the Council doing after the rising concerns of drugs in the country.
Ratu Viliame says during the olden days, the only drug they knew was marijuana, and nothing was done by the authorities to curb this drug.
He says new drugs are coming in now, such as methamphetamine (ice), and if no action is taken to control this, a lot of people will be badly affected.
When asked if they had discussed some solutions or ways during the GCC meeting to join the fight against drugs, the Chairman says they did discuss this with the different chiefs, and the chiefs have assured them they will monitor this in their different Vanua.
Ratu Viliame says they are also working closely with the Police.
