Former lecturer of a university who is charged with five counts of Malicious Acts files Constitutional Redress case

A woman who was charged for allegedly condemning the COVID-19 vaccine and creating public alarm and anxiety through her live videos has now filed a Constitutional Redress case against the Police Commissioner, the Health Minister, Permanent Secretary for Health, Minister for Employment, Productivity and Industrial Relations and the Attorney General.

Nanise Vucago who is a former lecturer of a university was charged with five counts of Malicious Acts.

Vucago who is representing herself in the case is now seeking an order annulling her arrest, detention, and charge by the Police and that Police withdraws the charge against her.

She further seeks that an order be made annulling all COVID-19 vaccination mandates and that the Health and Safety at Work (General Workplace Conditions) (Amendment) Regulations 2021 be annulled for its violation of the Fijian Constitution.

Vucago also wants a declaration that her rights under the constitution has been breached.

Seema Chand who is representing the five respondents has asked for time to get proper instructions.

Chief Justice, Kamal Kumar has adjourned the case until the 20th of October.
