Flagon Bekker has been announced as the new Chief Executive Officer of Land Transport Authority.
He will be starting in the role from today, for a three-year term.
LTA Board Chairman, James Sowane says Bekker was selected after a rigorous, merit-based recruitment process that included local and international applicants.
LTA says having worked for more than 20 years across the energy and associated services value chains in 4 global regions including the Middle East and Europe, Bekker’s broad and deep regulatory, technology and reform leadership experience is invaluable at a time when the Transport Sector is moving into an era of technological disruption and business model convergence.
In addition to senior Regional Leadership experience, the Authority says Bekker also has international Corporate, Formal Business School, and University Technical Development exposure, most recently in Papua New Guinea.
Meanwhile Asia Pacific Report had highlighted at the end of June last year that PNG Power Limited managing director Flagon Bekker resigned over the weekend citing family issues after serving the Papua New Guinean utility for nine months as he faced strong pressure over power woes nationwide.
He was the eighth head of the country’s national electricity supplier to resign from the position over the last six years.
