Former Fiji under 20 captain Alex Hodgman has become the only fourth player in history to have played for both the All Blacks and the Wallabies in the international arena after making his debut for the Wallabies in their 40-29 win over Georgia on Saturday.

The prop forward came on in the 60th minute for the Wallabies with a large roar from the crowd, acknowledging his achievement.

The 31-year-old captained the Fiji Under 20 in 2012 before changing allegiance to New Zealand the following year and representing the All Blacks U20 in 2013.

He went on to represent Canterbury in NZ’s NPC and also the Crusaders in the Super Rugby competition earning 9 caps for them in the 2015 and 2016 seasons.

Hodgman joined the Blues in 2017 and played 56 Super Rugby matches for them before moving to the Reds this year.

He made his All Blacks debut against the Wallabies in October 2020 and went on to earn 4 test caps for the All Blacks.

Hodgman is the first player to achieve this feat since Owen Stephens in 1973.

The Wallabies now turn their focus to the Rugby Championship that will kick off next month.
