The Fiji Water Flying Fijians have suffered a huge blow ahead of their 2023 Rugby World Cup quarter final clash against England next week after lock forward Temo Mayanavanua has been ruled out of the tournament due to injury.

In a statement this morning, Fiji Rugby has confirmed that Mayanavanua suffered a knee injury during their final pool match against Portugal yesterday and was substituted off early in the first half of the game.

Mayanavanua came off the bench in the Flying Fijians' first 3 matches of the RWC and earned his first start against Portugal but was unfortunate as it was cut short.

The 25-year-old lock has been instrumental for the Flying Fijians coming off the bench for the team and providing the impact needed in this tournament.

There is no confirmation yet on Mayanavanua’s replacement for the remainder of the tournament.

The Flying Fijians will play England in the third cup quarter final at 3am next Monday in Marseille.

In other RWC quarter finals, Wales will play Argentina at 3am Sunday, Ireland will take on the All Blacks at 7am on Sunday and hosts France will play South Africa at 7am next Monday.
