Teams will be allowed to make five substitutions when the Vodafone Premier League resumes next month.

Fiji Football Association’s CEO, Mohammed Yusuf says the International Football Association Board has adjusted the laws last month to allow for more substitutions.

He says teams will now be allowed to make five substitutions in the course of a game rather than the previous three and managers will be able to name nine players on the bench rather than seven, as was the case before.

However, there will only be three opportunities to make changes for each side, meaning that managers cannot waste time by making five individual substitutions later on in a game.

Yusuf says five substitutions will help prevent injuries to players and will definitely give coaches more options during games if they want to change things physically or tactically.

The VPL will resume on July 11th at Fiji FA Academy Ground in Ba where Ba will face Navua at 3pm.
