Five police officers appeared in the Nausori Magistrates Court today for their alleged involvement in the Naqia assault case on 14th April 2020.
Sevanaia Narogi, Kameli Tukana, Mafoa Korosaya and Inoke Nagata are charged with assaulting Inoke Lagicere at Naqia, Tailevu while Jokaveti Rabuku is charged with conspiring to defeat justice by interfering with witnesses.
It is alleged Lagicere was allegedly assaulted and thrown off a bridge by a group of police officers dressed in civilian clothing.
The case has been adjourned to 2nd July for mention in the Suva High Court.
All accused persons have been granted bail on strict conditions.
