Services at some of Fiji’s airports are expected to improve as the Japanese Government will be giving $15 million to Airports Fiji Limited.
While announcing the Cabinet decisions, Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka says the Cabinet has approved the Exchange of Notes with the Government of Japan and the Grant Funding Agreement with JICA.
He says under the agreement, JICA will procure and install aircraft surveillance systems at the Nadi International Airport and Labasa Airport.
Rabuka says JICA will procure and deliver five fire trucks for Nausori, Labasa, Savusavu and Matei Airports and three rescue boats for Nadi International Airport
He says they will also provide consultancy services for improving aviation safety.
Airports Fiji operates the Nadi International Airport, Nausori Airport and 13 other outer island airports.
