Fijians cannot find themselves in the back of the global COVID-19 vaccine queue- PM
Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama

We cannot afford to find ourselves at the back of the global queue when it comes to protecting ourselves from COVID-19.

According to Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama, securing an effective vaccine quickly is the government’s top priority and now the world is preparing for the next phase of its pandemic response.

He says as viable vaccines are available, wealthier nations are not wasting time in getting this as quickly as they can.

Bainimarama says if countries like Fiji lose out on a nationwide vaccination, we will be swept to the margins of the world’s recovery where we will be left more vulnerable than ever.

He adds the country prepared for months and when COVID-19 reached us, the government acted decisively in line with best medical evidence available.

The Prime Minister says they are working with development partners to see that all Fijians are immunised from this virus alongside the citizens of wealthier nations.
